This month we got a chance to chat with Jennifer Webb, a logistics specialist, about her role with Roane Transportation.
Tell us a little about yourself—where you’re from, family, what you like to do in your free time etc.
I am from Rockwood, TN, I have been with my fiancé for 10 years. Together we have 4 kids (1 girl, 3 boys) and 2 granddaughters. I like spending my free time with my family and friends.
Tell us about your role at Roane Transportation?
I work one on one with our top customer. I work with their customer service reps daily and make sure all deliveries are delivered on time.
How long have you been working for Roane Transportation and what has your experience been like?
I have been at Roane Transportation for 7 years. I work directly with customers and ensure they get the information they need.
What does your typical day look like?
A typical day here is building loads, answering phones for drivers and carriers, trying to help our assets, and brokering trucks out with information they need for their load.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
I get to work with all my co-workers. We help each other get through the day by supporting one another.
What is the most challenging thing about your job?
Making sure all the asset and broker trucks have all the information they need to pick up and deliver our customers’ freight.
What type of training or educational background is required for your role?
Having good customer service skills and taking pride in what you do.
Are there any misconceptions that you think people have about the trucking/transportation industry?
The dispatchers and brokers must have patience to make sure the drivers have everything they need to ensure our customers are happy along with our drivers.
What is a fun fact about yourself maybe not everyone knows about you? Hidden talent? Past job?
I have worked in customer service for 20 years. I enjoy being able to help anyone that needs a helping hand.
